The next generation of closure cap tool construction

 

The challenge

Quality of the moulded part was of paramount importance, but moreover our project partner needed to reduce the cavity to cavity pitch of his cap tooling and significantly lower maintenance and production costs.

Creating an energy efficient production environment was the goal, coupled with simple construction and maintenance friendly design.

 

Project realisation

  • Hasco handled the complete Project Management, from the design and construction of the mould, to the adaption of the component design to optimise the performance of the Z3600/S collapsible core.
  • With a Moldflow analysis the cycle time and product quality were optimised.
  • By using the collapsible core Z3600/S the cavity to cavity pitch centres were reduced.
  • Cost saving is significant when compared to hydraulic and mechanical solutions, especially when coupled with modern all electric moulding machines of today.
  • To compliment the simplicity of the collapsing core, the HASCO two stage ejector manages the accurate core movement and plate guiding, creating a fail safe condition.
  • The centre body of the core has a dedicated cooling channel, allowing the optimum temperature to be maintained – for fast cycling thin wall components and optimum surface finish control in engineering applications.
