50 years of standard mould units
Half a century ago, in the middle of February 1960, a German toolmaker from Lüdenscheid/Germany called Rolf Hasenclever submitted a patent that rang in a new era in mould construction and tooling design.
The patent described the idea in great detail:
"The assembly of moulds and tools for metal and plastics processing according to a modular system from interchangeable, industrially manufactured individual components."
Before then, every mould had been entirely unique, and it was this that induced Hasco's founder to take a closer look at the main functional parts of an injection mould tool. He developed standardised components that could be produced in large numbers with maximum precision.
This not only ensured simple exchangeability of wear parts, it also reduced throughput times. The mould builder was then able to spend his time and his machine capacity on the important aspects of adding value and realising new ideas for plastic products. The company was also quick to recognise the significance of CAD. For decades now, the HASCO standard mould unit module has been simplifying design work on all conventional CAD systems.
The company's product portfolio is continuously being extended to increase productivity in mould construction. The product range, which initially consisted essentially of plates, ejectors and guide elements, nowadays includes modern, high-quality steel, complex de-moulding and cooling elements, and innovative hot runner technology.
50 years after its invention, the standard mould unit is not simply a component, but an individually, ready-to-assemble engineering solution. It is developed jointly with the customer to enable new ideas to be turned into high-quality products that satisfy the growing demands of mould construction.
Today, HASCO is represented at 35 locations around the world, giving it a global presence and ensuring customer proximity in all the major industrial countries.
